Rope Walk, Waterloo

Eora Nation

For over a decade, Taylor Brammer have been involved in the realisation of the Rope Walk Parkland and associated public domain. This area holds a long history, from its original natural heath and wetland setting, home to many Aboriginal people, to dense industrial factories and workers housing, to the current high-density inner city living.

This important series of landscaped open spaces are elements of a larger masterplan, by Gallagher Studio and the City of Sydney, celebrating the rich industrial history of the Waterloo area. The Rope Walk Park takes inspiration for its name from Sydney’s first rope and cord factory that used to be located nearby.

This contemporary parkland links in with the overall urban framework of the place. Significantly, Taylor Brammer has designed important high quality residential communities that are integral to the Rope Walk’s success. The company has played a key design role in the major residential developments of Waterfall by Crown and Divercity that form a vital component to the overall open space network. The interfaces of the residential areas have been carefully designed to integrate with the open space character of the Rope Walk.

Our design input has played a key role in the urban greening and planning of this high density interface with this new open space. From playgrounds to plazas, with seating, rolling lawns and garden beds, this urban oasis offers something for everyone.
