Vista Park, Wongawilli

Tharawal Nation

Vista Park by Sheargold, is an award winning new residential community in Wongawilli, just south of Wollongong's CBD, nestled beneath the Illawarra Escarpment amid coastal plains. Vista Park's site-wide design seamlessly integrates the natural rural environment and celebrates Wongawilli's coal mining history, creating a unique destination for residents and visitors.

The development encompasses 368 homesites across three distinct precincts with varying housing densities, interconnected by a spacious riparian corridor and adjacent parkland named Bankbook Park. This parkland features restored artefacts from the nearby Wongawilli Coal Mine, integrated as play equipment and sculptures within the playground.

Additional heritage items contribute to the site's character, such as a sprawling fig tree and heritage-listed buildings, including a repurposed original homestead that serves as a community hub.

The open space design incorporates extensive cycleways and paths, addressing drainage and flooding concerns, while further enriching the landscape with robust native planting themes that extend throughout Bankbook Park.
