Shell Cove

Tharawal Nation

Shell Cove is now an established master planned coastal community of 5600 people, 21kms south of Wollongong on the Illawarra Coastline. Formerly farmland that bridged the land between the Pacific Ocean and the Illawarra Escarpment; Shell Cove has created a benchmark for how a community can experience a unique and natural coastal environment.

Taylor Brammer led the design development of an open space network around existing creek-lines, emphasising the local ecology and natural systems. Cook Pines line the entry avenues, creating a sense of arrival and creating connection to the waterfront and boat harbour. The parklands provide ample opportunity for people to exercise, meet and be amongst nature, connected by extensive walkways for pedestrians and cyclists alike.

The final stages of Shell Cove are currently underway with the construction of the boat harbour and commercial precinct. This final stage will successfully complete the place, establishing Shell Cove as a landmark residential community.
