Conveying hope, remembrance and reflection with memorial plaques, water, light, foliage and scent, the central memorial garden that forms part of a series of outdoor environments at OPAL Quakers Hill is embraced as a place of refuge and calm.
Designed for a range of community outcomes, the design approach to the external surroundings engages residents and staff in a holistic environment offering access to the healing garden elements and an easy and welcoming relationship between the light and bright interiors and the green and carefully textured gardens. The gardens green and carefully textured and scented foliage, providing a studied contrast to the tones of brickwork to the built form, adding to the clarity of the garden spaces. The water feature to the memorial garden creates a place of reflection and calm, its water movement adding life through the image of the sky and association of light from early morning to the evening afterglow.
