Barramurra Public School, Catherine Fields

Darug Country

Barramurra Public School is a new primary school catering to the growing community of southwestern Sydney, designed to accommodate up to 1000 students from years K-6.

The landscape design was strongly influenced by the rural setting and the nearby Nepean River, establishing a local school community with a sense of place and belonging with a connection to the surrounding environment.

The landscape masterplan was guided by the main elements of this greenfield site, including the original vegetation community and the European and Aboriginal Heritage of the site.

The school design integrates indoor and outdoor spaces, with plentiful grassed play areas defined by feature shade trees and native indigenous plantings.

The diagrams below are representative of the design evolution leading to the final Landscape Master Plan.
